Website design and development
I design and build business websites, online stores and websites with custom functionality. We start with what your customers need to know and do, then plan, design and develop a site that is practical to use and manage.
Discuss your websiteWhat should your website help people do?
A service business needs to explain its offer and help prospective customers get in touch. A store needs a clear catalogue and a usable checkout. Whether we are building a new site or improving an existing one, I start with the audience, their questions and their next action. That gives us a reason for each page and feature.
Choose the site around the business
-
Business websites
For companies and service providers that need to explain their work and generate inquiries. We plan service pages, company information, relevant work and clear contact options around your available content and goals.
-
Online stores
For businesses selling products online. Planning covers catalogue navigation, product pages, the basket and checkout, as well as product updates, order management and any required payment or shipping integrations.
From planning to launch
We define the audience, the purpose of the site, existing content and required integrations. That sets the scope of work and informs the page structure and the paths visitors will take through the site.
Once the direction is agreed, design and development begin. Before launch, we check mobile and desktop layouts, forms, links and the main user journeys. We also agree how content will be updated and what support is needed after launch.
What to check before launch
-
Usable on a phone, too
Readable text, a menu people can operate and forms they can complete on a small screen. Planning also considers keyboard navigation, visible focus and field labels.
-
Loading speed and findable content
Image sizes, page assets and structure affect how the site performs. Alongside performance checks, I plan heading hierarchy, search titles and descriptions, and internal links. This provides an SEO foundation; ongoing search work also requires content and continued attention.

How much does a business website cost?
Cost depends on page types, content, design and features such as a store, customer accounts or external integrations. To scope a proposal, send a short description of the business, the purpose of the site and a link to any existing website. Content, hosting and maintenance responsibilities should also be defined in the proposal.
How long does development take?
The schedule is set after discovery. A business site with ready content has a different scope from a large store or a site with external integrations. Content availability, review rounds and pre-launch testing all affect the launch date.
Can you improve an existing website?
We can assess which content, page structures, design elements and technical foundations are worth keeping. If page URLs change, the work should include mapping old addresses to new ones, redirects and checks of important links.
Will I be able to update the content?
If you need to edit text, add products or publish pages, we define those requirements during planning and choose a suitable management approach. Routine content updates and changes that require design or development should be distinguished in the scope.
Does development include ongoing SEO?
Development considers the technical foundation and content structure that help search engines understand a site. Ongoing SEO, content writing and results tracking need a separately agreed scope. Launching a website does not guarantee a particular search position.
